EXPERIENCE:

President, TransPac Software, Inc. - San Jose, CA - 1987 to present

Founded TransPac software in January 1987. TransPac Software is recognized as a leader in Far East text processing for the Macintosh.

  • Designed and implemented computerized exercise system for sports fitness centers, including expert system, smart (chip) cards, club-resident LAN, and distributed member database. Latest version also has custom smart card hardware/firmware and custom imaging code to handle processing of scanned forms.

  • Developed versions of Japanese and Korean Macintosh operating systems for Apple Computer, Inc.

  • Developed Japanese and Chinese phonetic (pinyin) input methods.

  • Developed Macintosh word processor for Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Tibetan writing systems.

  • Developed multilingual on-line dictionary and translation tool for English/Japanese and English/Chinese.

  • Co-founded Japanese localization company (Starboard) with Catena Corp., the second largest distributor of Macintosh computers in Japan.
  • Software Architect, Apple Computer International - Tokyo, Japan - 1985-1987

  • Designed and implemented first two versions of the Japanese Macintosh operating system (KanjiTalk 1.0 & 1.1), Macintosh Script Manager, and Chinese Macintosh operating system (ChineseTalk) as part of the Apple International Software Development team. Worked on Arabic, Thai, and Indic versions of the Macintosh.
  • Programmer, Apple Computer, Inc. - Cupertino, CA - 1983-1985

  • Worked on Lisa and Macintosh operating system and development tools.

    Massachusetts Institute Of Technology (M.I.T.) - Cambridge, MA - 1979-1983

    Graduated with Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Engineering, June 1983. Thesis resulted in the development of a single-hand typewriter keyboard. Winner, Clapp & Poliak Engineering Award.
